As with all Mac apps, you need to quit AdBlock before the App Store will install the update. What makes AdBlock a little more confusing than other apps is that it runs in the background. You can't see it, and you may not even know that it's open. Try the following solutions in order, proceeding to the next one only if the app still won't update.
Try just clicking Continue. If all goes well, the app will close, update, and open again in the background.
If all did not go well, try this:
- Click Cancel to close the error message.

Turn off Safari Extensions

- From the Safari menu, choose Preferences.
- Click the Extensions icon, then select an extension from the list.
- Deselect the Enable checkbox to turn off that extension.
If turning off an extension resolves the issue, check for extension updates by clicking Updates in the lower-left corner of the window. Or remove the extension by clicking the Uninstall button.

You can remove Internet plug-ins and other add-ons to learn whether any are causing the issue. To find them, quit Safari and open these Library folders:
